I was so excited to hear that Corks N Canvas would be willing to participate in my giveaway! I don’t know anyone that has been to a painting class that did not LOVE it! I have been twice and really enjoyed it both times! If you’ve never been, you definitely want to get as many entries to this one as possible! If you HAVE been before, then you have probably stopped reading this and started the entry process!
Doni Crain named studio manager of Corks N Canvas - Mandeville, LA
April 02, 2011
Doni Crain is a Louisiana girl, born and brought up in Lacombe, is the new manager of the Mandeville Corks N Canvas.
Crain is a graduate of Louisiana Tech and has previously worked in social services. She is a member of the Junior League and, luckily for Corks N Canvas, a people person par excellence. What she loves best are the customers and the opportunity to network through community outreach. She has been instrumental in coordinating the Painting with a Purpose benefits held each month.

The Shuttle Sisters and I (and some associate Sisters) went to Corks N Canvas again. Did you forget what that is? It's where you show up, armed with your adult beverage of choice, and they give you a canvas, paint, apron, and paintbrushes and guide you through a painting that you totally thought you were unqualified to paint, despite your 2 semesters of art class in high school. After the success of the Sunset Swamp, we set out this time to paint The Streetcar, definitely more difficult than our first painting!

Painting Party!
On Friday night, me and the shuttle sisters, minus Laurin, plus some extended family sisters, headed over to Corks n' Canvas in Mandeville. You might remember that we have done this before, as you can see here and here.
Corks n' Canvas is simply a great thing to do in Mandeville (obviously, this was my third time painting, and I'll probably go back again!). Once you get checked in at the door, they give you a blank canvas and all the paint and paintbrushes you will need.
We walked in, found our spots at the tables, and got our stuff situated.

Well, not me. My painting is limited to 2D turtles and pigs. But the talented people at Corks N Canvas will give you step by step instructions how to paint a picture along with a local artist. Oh and not to mention they let you bring your adult beverage of choice.
Last Friday, three of the four Shuttle Sisters (Laurin couldn't make it) plus two headed to Mandeville (on the Northshore of NOLA) for an art class. We were lucky enough to be seated up front of the class. We had a great view of our instructor, Eddie. He gave us step by step directions on how to paint our very own Street Car. I've never had any art instruction and am surprised how much I learned in a 3 hour class.

Perfectly Imperfect!
Tonight I headed out with Laurin and Melanie in search of our creative side. We went to Corks n' Canvas to see if we could tackle painting a Louisiana Sunset. This was something I had been wanting to do for a long time. It's a great little place where you can bring your own drinks and paint! :)
Since you have to reserve your class session ahead of time, it seemed like all of the classes with the good paintings would fill up right away. But everything finally worked out and the three of us were available to get together tonight for some creative fun.
After filling up on delicious Macaroni Grill, we checked in at Corks n' Canvas and found our seats.
